Regulations
Anglers visiting Glacier National Park are not required to obtain a license. A creel census may be issued which may be returned at any ranger station or entrance gate.
All visitors planning angling activities are advised to check with the nearest convenient ranger station or information center for the most up to date information.
Streams and Rivers
Stream flows fluctuate seasonally in Glacier National Park. During the spring runoff which lasts into July, large creeks may be swollen and cloudy. Streams located far from mountain side snowfields will clear earlier in the season. By mid summer streams are clear with manageable flows.
Lakes
The smaller lakes of Glacier offer fly casting opportunities on the breezy days that turn the large fiord like lakes into choppy water. Lake McDonald, Bowman & Kintla lakes experience winds that can create challenging boating conditions. Saint Mary Lake often sports whitecaps during clear windy weather
